1. Why pressure can rise after closure
A closed valve should limit flow across its seat, but downstream pressure has several possible sources. The pressure trend alone cannot identify the source.
Common causes include seat leakage, thermal expansion of trapped fluid, a passing bypass, regulator leakage or flow through another connected branch. Instrument drift and poor venting can also mislead.
Review the system drawing before blaming the nearest valve. Check vents, drains, bypasses, check valves, regulators and cross-connections around the isolated section.
Pressure rise therefore screens a possible isolation fault. It suggests passing only after other credible sources are controlled or excluded.
2. Build a controlled tracing plan
Start by recording upstream pressure, downstream pressure, valve positions, temperature and the timing of each change. Stable conditions make patterns easier to interpret.
Verify that the suspect valve reached its intended position. Wrong stop settings, coupling slip or a false indicator can leave the closure member partly open.
Then identify every path that can pressurise the section. Isolate or monitor those paths only under an approved operations plan.
A fast rise may suggest an active feed, while a slow rise can have several causes. Neither pattern confirms seat damage without a controlled test.

3. Double block and bleed needs careful interpretation
A double block and bleed arrangement uses two barriers with a monitored space between them. Pressure behaviour in that space helps locate a leak path.
The bleed point, cavity design and valve orientation affect what the readings mean. Some valve designs can trap or relieve cavity pressure in intended ways.
Confirm which seat each pressure measurement challenges. A rising cavity or bleed pressure can indicate one barrier leaks, but the system arrangement must identify which one.
Do not vent or manipulate a live arrangement outside the site procedure. A proper assessment is required when pressure cannot be controlled or the leak path remains uncertain.

4. Confirm the fault before choosing a remedy
Use an approved seat test, pressure decay test or bleed check suited to the valve and system. Record the method so later results remain comparable.
If loose debris is likely, approved cycling or cleaning may be considered. Damaged sealing faces may need compatible sealant, mechanical repair or replacement.
Injection requires suitable fittings in good condition, a compatible valve design and service, OEM guidance and operations permission. Without every gate, do not proceed.
Apply only controlled amounts within equipment and fitting ratings, watching pressure response. Stop when pressure, uptake, leakage or valve movement differs from the plan.
Retest the same isolation after treatment. If pressure still rises, reopen the cause list rather than repeating product blindly.
